Hugh Stearns took a course on "ecological buildings" in 1976. Since that time he has continued to study design and building. Having worked his way through school as a carpenter, he has a solid foundation in craftsmanship. With a degree in psychology from Texas A&M and a strong background in philosophy, Hugh has always had a fascination with the psychology of space, which motivated the development of the Transitions theory of design.
